Character Differences and Religious Beliefs Should Not Divide Us.

You and I are connected in ways beyond our comprehension.

Beautifully mysterious, isn’t it?

You and I are working together subconsciously — all the time.

What that work is, I can’t say for sure but, I do know we have a common purpose.

I wish I could explain it. It would make things easier, wouldn’t it? But, as you and I both know — we aren’t meant to fully understand it. Not yet…

It’s Difficult to See Life’s Perfections When You’re Focusing on Imperfections.

butterflyI heard a quote recently that has impacted and inspired me. Steve Jobs quoted it in a speech but, I do not know the original source — the quote is this:

“If you live each day as if it were your last, one day you’re sure to be right. “

I have read and heard many great quotes over the years but, there is something about this one that feels like a left jab to my chin. Something that has one motive – and that motive is to wake me up to what it means to be fully alive and experiencing this ride.

How often do you check-in with yourself?

Hey, how are you feeling today?

How many times have you been asked this question? If you’re like most people when you encounter this quick, passing-by, hello to a colleague or friend, this is the default conversation we’re all familiar with:

“Hey! Good morning! How are you?”
“Hey! I’m good, how are you?”
“Not too bad, thanks!”
“That’s great…Well, have a good day!”
“Hey, thanks — you too!”

Heard that exchange before? Yeah, me too.

Of course, the dialogue may differ slightly depending on who you’re talking to but the overall theme is the same. It’s a quick exchange of information that really doesn’t hold much substance but, we do it to acknowledge each other’s presence.

The Power of Choice and Sacrifice.

butterfly9:57 PM on October 29th, 2015.

I finished eating a grilled cheese sandwich about 20 minutes ago.

I rinse off my plate, put my kitchen to bed and walk to my living room. The fire is still glowing. The one lamp in the corner of the room is still on; I prefer that lamp over the main light because it gives the room a nice feel. It’s soft light but gives enough light to move around without bruising up my chins.
It’s quiet. I feel calm. I am no longer hungry. I stop and check-in with myself:

Genius and creativity

What is 1+2?

 is the value of 1?

 is the value of 2?

we take the value of 1 and add it to the value of 2, what is the outcome?

Given what we have learned throughout our lives, the value we get is 3. Now, my question is this – Do you accept this?

Revisit the pride

A decision was made last night to put priorities first within the writing checklist. The 30-day blog challenge is a priority but, I have a few others that take precedence over it. So, with that, I thought I’d try something different for day 14.

Following your path is the ultimate adventure. The question I receive from many people, including my own internal dialogue is, “How do you find your path…how do you know when you’re on the right path?”

The more I think about this, the more it makes sense to me. You don’t find it. You work toward it. And at the same time, it finds you. I call this Motivation reproduction sequence. Your path is seeking you as much as you’re seeking it.
The most important aspect of “finding your purpose” isn’t the purpose itself. If you have a dream, the dream is secondary to what truly matters.
What could be more important than my dream? What is more important than finding and pursuing my passion or purpose?

Lessons From a Tree

The message the Chinese Bamboo Tree offers is something that is difficult to grasp in our world today. Everything is fast. Millions of instant-result products are marketed toward consumers all over the world – every day.

Open letter to Mr Resistance

An open letter to Mr. Resistance

Mr. Resistance –

It is 1:31 AM — Thursday morning. We both know why I am starting my daily blog post so late, don’t we? Yes…yes, we do.

I wish I could see your face. I am assuming you look upset. You didn’t think I’d even get to this tonight, did you? Man…when are you going to learn?
You can’t stop me.
