Politics and party hats

I thought I’d start the day by jumping in on the political opinion-party. I see all of you sporting those smooth party hats as you post your thoughts on Facebook — while you may or may not know, I am a party hat collector and self-assigned critic.

So…

I cannot sit in silence any longer – give me one of those sweet party hats.

The Ultimate Reality – You Are the Entire Cosmos

I am 36 years old.
The Earth has completed 36 rotations around the sun during my physical existence. The ultimate carnival ride, right?

As a child, I was continually exposed to Christianity. It started early. If my memory serves me well, I’d say it began at the age of 5 or 6.

On Sundays, my family and I would attend church services. My brother and I attended “Sunday School” at the church before the sermon. I guess the reason for this was to mold our young, innocent minds?
Sunday School was strange. I recall feeling

Music is Everywhere

I started drawing recently. (The picture to the right is a drawing I did last week) I’ve always enjoyed sketching random things during idle moments or while chatting on the phone. But, the last couple of weeks has been more involved than that. In fact, this is the first time I have sat down to write in 5 days.

During this 5 day stretch, I did a lot of thinking while the pencil (and erasers) danced across the paper. Moments of inner-chemical warfare. Moments of pure bliss. Moments of feeling like I am merely creating a new version of resistance. Moments of embracing this newly found talent and running with it. Moments of wondering how I could balance music, writing, and drawing to where I can maintain full focus on all of them simultaneously — and this is where I am tonight.

How often do you check-in with yourself?

Hey, how are you feeling today?

How many times have you been asked this question? If you’re like most people when you encounter this quick, passing-by, hello to a colleague or friend, this is the default conversation we’re all familiar with:

“Hey! Good morning! How are you?”
“Hey! I’m good, how are you?”
“Not too bad, thanks!”
“That’s great…Well, have a good day!”
“Hey, thanks — you too!”

Heard that exchange before? Yeah, me too.

Of course, the dialogue may differ slightly depending on who you’re talking to but the overall theme is the same. It’s a quick exchange of information that really doesn’t hold much substance but, we do it to acknowledge each other’s presence.

The Trees are Rising

If you read my blog on a regular basis, you know I have experienced some interesting things in the morning hours recently. It’s happening in cycles. Every 45 days or so. This morning wasn’t as bizarre, but it’s still worthy of mentioning here.

3:03 AM. Awakened to the sounds of a car alarm. Waking up to that sound is interesting for a couple of reasons. First, as soon as the car alarm starts, your dreams sync up perfectly with it. It could be the most off-the-wall thing too. For example, in my dream this morning, I was using my arms to increase the height of trees.

I’ll explain…

A Social Media Compilation and Some News.

wpid-20150912_150316.jpgHello, my friends!
I have a few pieces in work – expect to see the first by Tuesday evening or Wednesday afternoon.
The adventure has, unfortunately, delayed work on the blog. I don’t want to try to explain (and most likely bore you) with the details.
Rest assured, though, the posts will show up more often as we move forward. Regular blog postings are essential.
I haven’t told anyone about the plans I have. Yay for secrets! Don’t worry – the secret will be out soon – and you’re going to love it.

Awakened to a Cosmic Riddle.

autumn-sunriseHave you ever risen in the morning, after a 6-8 hour sleep session, and felt as if your spirit spent the night away from your body? That happened to me this morning. I spent the last 30 minutes or so talking to a drawing of a fish (my son drew it for me) and asking him/her how I could explain this experience in writing. More specifically – in a way that would make sense.
The reason I felt compelled to discuss this with an inanimate object is because I often get my best advice from things that do not speak. Or listen. Or understand…I suppose I just need something to look at while I am thinking.
