flowersGreetings, my friend. I hope this post finds you feeling well and your cosmic vibrations are resonating at a high level. I hope your creative energy is being spent in a way that gives you a sense of purpose and pride.

As humans, we are directly connected to our environment. By connected, I am referring to a dependence upon the vitamins and minerals it produces naturally. In turn, the environment is dependent upon us to consume its resources. We come from the same process of creation and all of it, our physical shells and the consumption we require, are all connected. Consumption includes everything from the air we breathe to the food we consume.

Humans operate on vibrational frequencies. The vibrations are dependent on many factors in terms of their effect on us and how we feel. Our state of well-being is directly connected to these vibrational frequencies. In fact, our well-being is the level of our vibrational frequencies.

This short introduction to this post is necessary for one reason: Our surroundings and our food consumption have an extreme impact on our natural abilities. When the food we consume is contaminated/altered/processed in any way – the effectiveness of the vitamins and minerals it provides are significantly decreased. I’m certainly no scientist but, this seems clearly logical to me. In some cases, the intake of such foods has a negative effect on the body – leading to a variety of ailments or illness.

And, as many people speculate, is the root cause for the rise in developmental disorders, food allergies, depression, obesity, cancer, and numerous other health conditions.

Farming and Community

I was born and raised in SW lower Michigan. This is an area rich in farmland – predominately corn crops. Both of my Grandfathers were local farmers. Respected men who worked hard to provide locally grown crops for their family and their community. They took pride in their work and the callouses on their hands proved their dedication.

This was life for me as a boy. I often assisted my Grandpa by picking rocks from the fields to ensure proper harvesting. The process used was pure, clean, and natural. The way nature intended. The pure seeds did the work with the help of fresh water and proper sunlight. The way it should be. The natural way. Nature in action – excellence.

The Human / Food Connection

There is a distinct connection between the human body and truly organic fruits and vegetables. Our body craves them.

I am not going to turn this into a biology report or natural food piece but, this is important to understand.
First – it’s vital to remember that we are organisms. Yes – the ego shields this fact quite vigorously, I know. Regardless of the ego’s defenses – it’s a fact.
We are organisms who feed off/with our environment. We don’t exist without our environment. Our environment dictates nearly every aspect of our senses.

If we only consume goods that are less-than-beneficial to our cell’s growth and production – we will “feel” this across many aspects of our well-being.
For example – many people have developed allergies to certain types of foods.

My first inclination, about food allergies, is that our collective body (humanity’s connection to one another) is making it known that our current direction with food processing – and ultimately the consumption of that food – is off track. The body is denying it by creating a visible and profound message that stretches past the internal workings of the body.

Of course, this message goes much deeper and stretches far past allergies. We all know this.

My thought on one’s geographical location and nutrition is this: Depending upon where you reside on the planet – you require different amounts of different types of vitamins and minerals. It only makes sense to me that this would be the case. Such as a cactus requires much less rain than a Willow tree.

The first step is diagnosis

I barely scratched the surface on the topics mentioned above. If you have any food allergies – you know this. Farming and community are a book in-of-itself. Food allergies is a topic that could be discussed for weeks.

I briefly touched on these topics for a few reasons:
One – I assume most of you are familiar with them and
Two – I want the meat of this post to focus on GMOs.

For anyone unfamiliar with GMOs –
GMO is an acronym that stands for Genetically Modified Organism.

Before I go on, I want you to think about those words for a few moments…Genetically Modified Organism.

Okay – let’s continue.

GMOs and You.

What is a GMO? 
A GMO is the result of a laboratory process where genes from the DNA of one species are extracted and artificially forced into the genes of an unrelated plant or animal. The foreign genes may come from bacteria, viruses, insects, animals or even humans.

Now – This topic is large. There are many avenues this post could travel down at this point. I have decided to focus on one, the big name in GMO, Monsanto. Even if only one of my readers is introduced to this corporation today – I consider that a victory.

Monsanto is a multinational agricultural biotech company. They are the world’s largest producer of genetically engineered seeds, by a wide margin.

In fact, in 2003, Monsanto was responsible for over 90% of the genetically engineered seeds planted on the planet. Yes – the planet.

You might have heard about an herbicide called Roundup® – produced by Monsanto. Active ingredient: Glyphosate.

What is Glyphosate?

Glyphosate is an herbicide. It kills grasses and broadleaf plants once it is applied to the leaves of plants. The sodium salt form of glyphosate is used to regulate plant growth and ripen fruit.
Glyphosate was first registered for use in the United States in 1974.

How does it work?
Glyphosate is a non-selective herbicide, meaning it kills most plants. It does this by preventing the plant from making the proteins that are needed for continued plant growth – by stopping the shikimic acid pathway, an enzyme pathway. This pathway is necessary for plants and some microorganisms.

Studies connecting the harmful effects of glyphosate:

  • A study is published in the US National Library of Medicine and will soon be published in the Journal Food and Chemical Toxicology. Several recent studies showed glyphosate’s potential to be an endocrine disruptor. Endocrine disruptors are chemicals that can interfere with the hormone system in mammals. These disruptors can cause developmental disorders, birth defects, and cancer tumors. Read Study Here 

    Researchers also determined that Monsanto’s roundup is considered a “xenoestrogen,” which is a foreign estrogen that mimics real estrogen in our bodies. This can cause a number of problems that include an increased risk of various cancers, early onset of puberty, thyroid issues, infertility and more.

  • A group of scientists put together a comprehensive review of existing data that shows how European regulators have known that Monsanto’s glyphosate causes a number of birth malformations since at least 2002. Regulators misled the public about glyphosate’s safety. Read Full Report Here 
  • When you ingest Glyphosate, you are, in essence, altering the chemistry of your body. It’s completely unnatural and the body doesn’t resonate with it. P450 (CYP) is the gene pathway disrupted when the body takes in Glyphosate. P450 creates enzymes that assist with the formation of molecules in cells, as well as breaking them down. CYP enzymes are abundant and have many important functions. They are responsible for detoxifying xenobiotics from the body, things like the various chemicals found in pesticides, drugs ,and carcinogens. Glyphosate inhibits the CYP enzymes. The CYP pathway is critical for normal, natural functioning of multiple biological systems within our bodies. Because humans that have been exposed to glyphosate have a drop in amino acid tryptophan levels, they do not have the necessary active signaling of the neurotransmitter serotonin, which is associated with weight gain, depression, and Alzheimer’s disease.  Read Full Report Here

Those 3 studies barely touch the surface. Isn’t it interesting how much of this information is not widely known? Perhaps glyphosate-based apathy?

Simple and straight to the point information.

This issue stems much further out the tree of irresponsibility – as we make our way to Washington D.C.
In 2009, seemingly eager to make a dent, newly elected President Obama appointed former Monsanto VP and head lobbyist, Michael Taylor, as Deputy Commissioner for the FDA.
That’s right – the head of the FDA is the former VP of Monsanto.

The FDA – the administration that regulates the safety of the food we all consume.

Starting to see a connection?

It gets worse.

Roger Beachy, former director of the Monsanto Danforth Center, appointed  as the director of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture.

Obama’s Secretary of State (at the time) Hillary Clinton once worked for the Rose law firm. Rose law firm was counsel to Monsanto.

GMO crops have walked through the open door of the Obama presidency.

Monsanto GMO alfalfa.

Monsanto GMO sugar beets.

Monsanto GMO Bt soybean.

Coming soon: Monsanto’s GMO sweet corn.

Syngenta GMO corn for ethanol.

Syngenta GMO stacked corn.

Pioneer GMO soybean.

Syngenta GMO Bt cotton.

Bayer GMO cotton.

ATryn, an anti-clotting agent from the milk of transgenic goats.

A GMO papaya strain.

And perhaps, soon, genetically engineered salmon and apples.

This is an extraordinary parade. It, in fact, makes Barack Obama the most GMO-dedicated politician in America.

Please – inform yourself. Buy locally and organic as much as you can. Remember, as of the date of this post (03/01/16) the labeling of GMO foods is not required.

My question is this:
If your mission, Monsanto, is to aid/solve world hunger – why must you be bullish to local farmers who are doing things the right way? Why must you remain secretive about where your products are located? If GMOs are, in fact, safe – prove it to humanity.
Prove that your corporate masters are doing a service to humanity and not a potentially catastrophic disservice.

You will not win. You will fall. The great evil’s always do.
